The ingredients needed to make Rajma Masala with Sausages:

  1. Get 1 cup of Rajma (kidney beans), soaked overnight.
  2. Prepare 1/4 cup of chana dal (Bengal gram lentil), soaked for 2-3 hours.
  3. Get 1 cup of chicken sausages, chopped into roundels.
  4. Prepare 3-4 tbsp. of oil.
  5. Prepare 2 of big cardamoms.
  6. Take 1 of " cinnamon stick.
  7. Get 4-5 of cloves.

  9. Prepare 1 tsp. of ginger-garlic paste.

  17. Prepare of few onion slices to garnish.

Sauté the spices, onions and tomatoes in the steel insert of the Instant Pot using the sauté button. Add the soaked and drained kidney beans, water and deglaze. Rajma is a very popular North preparation of red kidney beans (rajma) with whole spices cooked in a piquant onion-tomato masala curry.

Steps to make Rajma Masala with Sausages:

  1. Pressure cook the rajma and chana dal in 2 cups water for 7-8 minutes on low flame after the first whistle. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and fry the sausages till light brown. Drain and keep aside..
  2. Temper the same oil with cardamoms, cinnamon and cloves. Saute for a few seconds. Add the onion and fry till light brown..
  3. Now add the ginger-garlic paste, tomato paste and all the powdered spices mixed with 1/4 cup water. Saute till the oil separates..
  4. Add the boiled rajma and simmer on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Adjust water according to the gravy desired..
  5. When done, add ghee and the fried sausages (keeping aside few to garnish) and give it a mix. Keep covered for 2-3 minutes..
  6. When serving. add the lime juice and mix well. Garnish with onion slices, coriander leaves and the remaining fried sausages..

Heat oil in a non-stick wok, add onion, ginger, garlic and cumin seeds and saute till fragrant. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, green chilli and bay leaf, mix and saute till oil separates. Add ½ cup water, mix, cover and cook till tomatoes become pulpy.
